Chartreuse
Created and produced by the Carthusian monks of the Grande Chartreuse monastery
near Grenoble. Dating from the 16th century, this closely guarded recipe includes
130 herbs and spices. The ingredients are macerated and distilled, followed
by prolonged maturation in oak casks. No artificial colours are added. Green
Chartreuse is 55% a.b.v., yellow is 40% a.b.v.
